Elmdorf Ltd has applied for planning permission for phase two of its housing development in Carlow

An Irish company has applied for planning permission for 49 homes that form phase two of its wider housing development plan.

Elmdorf Ltd has already been granted permission by Carlow County Council to build 64 houses on land to the “west of the Link Road.”

It’s now applying for phase two of the development, which will consist of 49 two-storey units, according to the Carlow Council’s planning portal.

It will consist of six two-bedroom, 39 three-bedroom, and four four-bedroom houses on the Link Road (L1026), Chapelstown, Co. Carlow.

The development will be on a site “to the north og the permitted development that was granted” on the Link Road.

Should permission for phase two be granted, there will be six two-storey semi-detached three-bedroom units, 28 two-storey terraced units that are contained within seven terraces of four units containing two four- bedroom, 20 three-bedroom, and six two- bedroom units.

The planning application also includes 15 two-storey terraced dwelling units that are contained within five terraces of three units containing two four-bedroom and 13 three-bedroom units.

The proposed development will be accessed via the permitted vehicular and pedestrian access into the site off the Link Road that has alreday been granted planning permission.

It will extend this permitted access into the application site to provide access to all homes, that will each have two car parking spaces.

An additional six visitor parking spaces will provide 104 car parking spaces in total.

The development will include all internal access roads and footpaths, hard and soft landscaping, boundary treatments, and all infrastructural and ancillary site development works.

Elmdorf Ltd submitted the application on Monday, November 2nd, with a decision due from the council by January 1st, 2027.

Any submissions regarding the application must be made by December 6th.
