The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission is advising customers to take action immediately.
Rathwood, which is based in Tullow, entered examinership in April, after over 7,000 customers failed to receive a refund for undelivered goods.
The Examiner that was appointed today contacted those people to let them know that they will receive a “very small sum” of money.
“Please note that I expect that only a nominal return will be made to customers with claims in respect of unfulfilled orders and/or unpaid refund requests,” the correspondence to customers stated.
“ If you have a claim against Rathwood, you will only receive a very small sum in respect of any monies paid by you to Rathwood,” it said.
The CCPC is advising customers to immediately request a chargeback from their bank or card provider and to register their claim against Rathwood online.
The online form can be found in the letter that customers received from the Examiner.
“We advise any affected consumers to review the correspondence from the Examiner carefully and to complete the form provided as soon as possible,” Grainne Griffin, Director of Communications, Consumer Information and Financial Education, said.
Rathwood’s scandal has been ongoing since last year, with the company being Ireland’s second most complained-about business last year.
42,000 complaints regarding it were brought to the CCPC.
