Housing practitioners from local authorities and housing bodies in Carlow were in at the conference which featured Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien TD, who opened the Housing Practitioners Conference 2024 which took place at the Mullingar Park Hotel in Mullingar on April 25th-26th.
The conference, which saw former RTÉ newsreader Eileen Dunne hold a Q&A with the minister, heard from experts across the housing sector including The Housing Agency’s Bob Jordan; Éadaoin Ní Chléirigh of the Irish Council for Social Housing; Claire O’Sullivan of Tinteán Housing Association; Sustainability Consultant Ciarán Hayes and John-Mark McCafferty of Threshold.

The conference, organised by The Housing Agency, addressed the theme “Opportunities for Sustainable Housing". As well as expert speakers from the industry, the conference also featured a range of workshops on topics including cost rental housing, the affordable purchase scheme, age friendly homes, urban vacancy and regulation for a sustainable rental sector.
