Young Tullow man awarded An Garda Siochana Carlow Good Citizen Award
Carlow Gardaí honour the young man for helping to assist Gardaí during an arrest

Carlow Gardaí have honoured Joseph Hickson of Tullow, County Carlow for a aiding Gardaí in an arrest.
n January 2023, Mr Joseph Hickson was instrumental in supporting members of An Garda Siochana in the arrest of a suspect.
Mr Hickson shielded gardai from glass missiles as they were trying to make an arrest. This was an outstanding act of bravery on his part that prevented members of Gardai getting seriously injured.
An Garda Siochana Carlow would like to acknowledge Mr Joseph Hickson from Tullow, County Carlow in awarding him with the Inaugural An Garda Siochana Good Citizen Award.
Superintendent Anthony Farrell stated that "this good citizen award acknowledges outstanding acts of bravery in the community in keeping people safe. We have a collective responsibility in society to keep people safe. In doing this some people go above and beyond to help others. What Joe did was highly commendable, selfless and a tremendous act of bravery. On behalf of An Garda Siochana and indeed the community of Tullow, I thank you for your courage"
