The Carlow and Kilkenny Dog Shelter has made an urgent appeal for locals to adopt the elderly dog Benny, as he is struggling to live in the shelter.

Benny entered the care of Carlow and Kilkenny Dog Shelter only eight days ago, but according to the shelter is 'not coping too well being in kennels'.

Benny is continuously circling while out in his run, and not interacting with the staff or any of the dogs at the shelter.

In an appeal post on Facebook, shelter said that: "We feel Benny didn't have the best life as he has old scars over his body and was worse for wear when he came into the shelter".

"We are appealing for any of our wonderful rescues to help us get him a home. This boy is old shut down and needs a special home with someone who's experienced with elderly dogs," the shelter said.

Benny is described by the Carlow and Kilkenny Dog Shelter as 'a quiet boy that just needs TLC and love at this late stage of his life', and is well suited for those in quiet homes, as he 'loves quiet and to snuggle in his bed'.

If you or anyone would you know are able to assist the shelter in giving Benny a forever home, the Carlow and Kilkenny Dog Shelter can be contacted by phone at 0599726785.
