Local Fianna Fáil TD Jennifer Murnane O’Connor has welcomed funding for a new building at Holy Angels for children with disabilities.
The Deputy Murnane O’Connor’s party colleague, Minister of State for Disabilities, Anne Rabbitte TD, approved funding for the construction of new building for children’s therapy services including a pre-school facility and therapy pool on the Kelvin Grove site.
Minister Rabbitte announced a total of €23m in capital funding for disability capital projects in 2024. Minister Rabbitte has also asked the HSE to develop the first ever disability specific multi-annual Capital Strategy.
The allocation follows the development of the Action Plan for Disability Services 2024-2026, which was launched in December 2023.
Deputy Murnane O’Connor said: “I’m thrilled to receive confirmation that Holy Angels will receive significant funding for the construction of a new building at Holy Angels in Kelvin Grove to help children with disabilities.
“This investment will improve disability services for children in the community and their families.”
The Holy Angels School for Children with Special Needs in Carlow is a designated pre-school in Carlow for children with special needs from the age of 18 months to 6 years. They have been operating for over 40 years.
