From the Carlow County Council Community Information Facebook page:

"The Outdoor Workout Area (Street/Calisthenics Workout) in Carlow Town Park will be available for public use from 1 pm today. This will be the first purpose-built outdoor street/calistehics workout area in County Carlow and one of the first in the South East.

Funding was provided for this project under the Department of Rural and Community Development Town & Village Renewal Scheme. Calisthenics/street workout is a form of physical training, which focuses on teaching you to master your own bodyweight, using minimal equipment. By using your mobile device, QR codes can be scanned on the calisthenic/street workout equipment which provide information on how each element of the equipment should be used.
The aim of this calisthenic/street workout area installation is to empower people to create healthy habits, enabling them to improve their own physical and mental well-being, through exercising in our Town Park. The calisthenic/street workout area will make exercise accessible to everyone. You get all the benefits of an indoor gym (strength training, increased blood flow, flexibility, etc.), plus an extra measure of vitamin D.
In addition to the calisthenic/street workout area, Carlow Municipal District Office have also installed an outdoor table tennis table and outdoor crveball table (Crveball is the sport of using a curved table tennis table with a football. It’s super easy and fun to play and will improve overall skill and ability at mainstream ball sports also)."
