Carlow Councillor appointed to Regional Health Forum promises 'to push for more health facilities'

Cllr Daniel Pender appointed to Southern Regional Health Forum

Carlow County Councillor Daniel Pender has been appointed to the Southern Regional Health Forum. Cllr Pender was nominated alongside, Cllrs Wallace and Browne to represent Carlow on the committee which can put questions to HSE executives and raise motions to influence HSE policy on key projects.

Cllr Pender said: ‘I will be using this platform to push for more health facilities to be opened in our county. There are a number of projects currently underway and I will use this forum to keep the pressure on to ensure their delivery.’

Pender continued: ‘I will be highlighting mental health supports to the HSE executives that appear at these meetings. We need more funding so that people can access these supports earlier on before their problems develop further. Earlier interventions secure better outcomes.’

The Southern Regional Health Forum is made up of councillors from across the Southern Region and can put questions to HSE executives and raise motions to influence HSE policy. It is a statutory body.
