Carlow County Council has received a planning application from South East Technological University (SETU) for a number of extension works to take place on the campus from previously obtain planning permission.

The planning permission was applied for by SETU and was received on the 27th of August of 2024.

The planning works that are included in the planning application is as follows:

The site is to be accessed by an existing vehicular entrance to SETU's campus in Carlow off the Kilkenny Road. Construction of a part single storey, part 4 storey Third Level Educational Health Sciences Building of 6,133m² gross internal floor area.

The building will comprise science laboratories, clinics, sports and health science spaces including large gym labs and running track, and administration rooms with a central roof-lit social space on the upper floors and large entrance hall in the south east corner of the building.

Provision of plant and screening at roof level.

Provision of 176 number bicycle parking spaces.

Provision of 105m² sheltered bicycle store on the eastern boundary of the campus.

All associated site development works, site services, signage, provision of Sustainable Drainage Systems and landscaping works.

The decision date for the application is due for the 21st of October 2024. Updates on the decision can be found when they are made on Carlow Live.
