Gardaí are appealing for information regarding an attempted robbery which took place in Daybreak on the Athy Road in Carlow town on Wednesday, September 25 at 12:30pm.
The suspect hid his identity before committing the crime, putting on a pair of sunglasses just as he entered the store. He is described as being about six foot in height, of stocky build and was wearing a black raincoat, with the hood pulled tightly to keep his face covered ,grey tracksuit pants and white trainers.
He did not speak once throughout the ordeal, but instead, placed a handwritten note on the countertop.
The note stated "Keep quiet and open the till", just seconds after this, he quicky reveals a knife which he had hidden beneath his jacket and placed it on top of the shop counter.

Speaking to Carla O'Brien on RTÉ's Crimecall, Garda Greg Freegrove said that "Due to a special locking mechanism, the assistant tells him they are unable to open the till drawers."
Upon hearing this, the suspect grabs the note, along with his knife, and fleas the shop empty-handed via an e-scooter, which passed by St Dympna's Hospital and Carlow train station.
Gardaí in Carlow and RTE's Crimecall are both appealing to anyone who has information that could assist the investigation further.
