Carlow County Council have begun to clear snow and ice at entrances to schools in an effort to get schools opened following closures for the start of the week.
The grit and salt is out before the temperatures are set to plummet to -6 degrees across County Carlow.

The post from the Carlow Council Information page reads:
"Footpaths and entrances at schools being cleared. Conditions are still icy so please take care on roads and pathways as current conditions continue."
