Councillor Will Paton was on RTÉ's Morning Ireland following another crash at the Leagh Bends on the N80 in Carlow
Carlow Councillor Will Paton was on RTÉ's Morning Ireland following what he describes as 'another horrific story' following a road traffic accident on the N80 in Carlow that saw two young people lose their lives at approximately 1:15am on Friday morning.
The collision involved one vehicle. Two occupants of the car, the male driver and a male passenger, both in their twenties, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two passengers of the car, a male and female, also aged in their 20s, were taken to St Luke's General Hospital in Kilkenny with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
A year after the same stretch of road claimed another 3 young lives.

Carlow Councillor Will Paton spoke passionately to RTÉ urging An Bord Pleanála to give an early planning decision to work on straightening the stretch of roads that have claimed so many lives.
"It's horrific, it's not acceptable and we really need An Bord Pleanála to come on board with us and give us an early decision so we can get on with the work of straightening the road and making sure this never happens again."
Independent Counicllor Will Paton also mentioned in the interview how the same area needs to be addressed urgently.
"There has been a history of deaths, crashes, incidents, accidents at that particular area. It's gone on far too long and we really need to address this problem urgently."
Carlow County Council currently has a compulsory purchase order in place for a number of properties in the area in an attempt to straighten out the piece of road and that planning permission has been submitted to An Bord Pleanála.
