Carlow Gardaí have provided vital safety tips for Irish drivers across the county.

They shared the tips on their An Garda Síochána Facebook page and they contain some important tips for drivers in any weather conditions.

The tips they shared read as follows:

Check Tyre Pressure Regularly 
Under or over-inflated tyres can reduce fuel efficiency and affect handling. Make sure to check your tyre pressure monthly, and don’t forget to adjust it according to the recommended level in your vehicle's manual.

Tread Depth Matters 
The legal minimum tread depth in Ireland is 1.6mm, but for optimal performance, especially in wet conditions, aim for 3mm. Check your tyre tread often and replace tyres if they’re worn down.

Look for Damage 
Inspect your tyres for cuts, bulges, or cracks. Any damage to the sidewall could lead to a blowout, especially on high-sp

Alignment and Balancing
Misaligned or unbalanced tyres can cause uneven wear and poor handling. If your car pulls to one side or vibrations are noticeable, it might be time for an alignment check.
Don’t Forget the Spare
Check that your spare tyre is in good condition and properly inflated. It could save you in an emergency!
