Carlow County Council have announced intention to use purpose made CCTV cameras for littering and dumping prevention and enforcement across County Carlow.

The CCTV cameras will be placed at 4 different locations across Carlow.

The locations across Carlow that the cameras will be placed are as follows:

Location 1 - Tullow Recycling Centre

Location 2 - Mount Leinster & The Blackstairs Mountains

Location 3 – The Laurels, (area adjacent to the River Burrin) Tullow Road, Carlow

Location 4 – Hacketstown Bottle Banks

They posted more information on the Carlow Council Facebook page writing:

Carlow County Council intends on implementing a number of CCTV schemes which aim to deter, prevent, detect and prosecute cases of illegal dumping across the County.
As part of this process Carlow County Council is undertaking public consultation on the provision of CCTV cameras in public areas in County Carlow.

The CCTV cameras are for the sole and primary purpose of preventing litter and illegal dumping and enforcement of the Litter Pollution Act 1997, as amended, and the Waste Management Act 1996, as amended.
This initiative will adhere to the Codes of Practice for the Operation of CCTV for the Purposes of Prevention, Detection and Prosecution of Litter and Waste Offences.
