Following a shooting incident at the Fairgreen Shopping Centre on Sunday June 1st 2025, the shopping centre is set to reopen.

The shooting incident that saw a fatality of the gunman and sent shockwaves throughout the Carlow community, the shopping centre, which had been closed since Sunday evening is set to reopen its doors on Wednesday.

With the Fairgreen Shopping Centre writing on their social media account saying:

"Fairgreen Shopping Centre would like to thank everybody for their understanding and patience.
To all Managers, staff, customers, our own security team and the Front Line services, Gardai, Fire Services etc. we offer sincere thanks and appreciation.
Given the fact that investigations are not completed yet today we have decided that we will not open for business.
We fully expect to open tomorrow Wednesday, with the exception of Tesco.

"

With an update coming late on Tuesday night also saying:

"Hello all. Fairgreen Shopping Centre will open tomorrow, except for Tesco ."

As the shopping centre is set to reopen, Gardaí in Carlow are still appealing for witnesses to come forward as part of the investigation process into the incident.

"As part of investigation process, An Garda Síochána wish to speak to anyone who was in the Fairgreen Shopping Centre or vicinity of its carpark between 6pm & 6.30pm on Sunday last, 1st June. Whether people observed anything of relevance or not, please contact An Garda Síochána, Carlow, telephone 059-9136620."
