Last week, Carlow County Council, officially broke new ground on the €4.6 million Community Hub development.
The sod-turning ceremony marked the commencement of the works on the new hub and was attended by a number of members of the Carlow County Council.
Once the Community Hub is complete it hopes to serve as a multi-functional resource supoorting wide of services and community needs. According to the Council the community hall will include "multi-functional rooms for workshops and services, consulting rooms, a maker space, coffee dock & kitchen, office spaces, meeting areas and outdoor play and landscaped areas."

“I’m thrilled to see construction commencing on what promises to be a fantastic facility for our community,” said Cathaoirleach Cllr Fergal Browne. “This milestone reflects the strong collaboration between councillors and residents alike.”
Mayor Cllr Fintan Phelan added: “This is a gamechanger for the Tullow Road area. It will serve generations to come and shows the power of partnership between local authority and community.”
Minister Jennifer Murnane O’Connor TD highlighted the project's importance: “This is about building stronger, more vibrant communities—places where people feel connected, supported, and proud to call home.”
Michael Brennan, Director of Services, stated: “This project aligns with the Council’s goals to create inclusive spaces where community can thrive. We’re proud to work with all our partners to bring this vision to life.”
