Irish singers Jazzy and CMAT to go up against Miley Cyrus in two BRIT Award categories

Irish singers Jazzy and CMAT will go up against Miley Cyrus in two BRIT Award categories.

The talented musicians have been nominated in two major categories at the prestigious music awards, with Jazzy up for International Song of the Year for her song 'Giving Me' and CMAT nominated for International Artist of the Year.

Jazzy has been nominated alongside fourteen other artists, including Billie Eilish (What Was I Made For?), Doja Cat (Paint the Town Red), Libianca (People), Noah Kahan (Stick Season), Rema (Calm Down), Miley Cyrus (Flowers) and SZA (Kill Bill), among others.

CMAT is one of ten artists nominated for International Artist of the Year alongside Kylie Minogue, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Ray, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, Asake, Burna Boy, SZA, and Caroline Polachek.

The award has previously been won by Beyoncé and Billie Eilish.

Interestingly, both Irish artists have been nominated in the same categories as American pop superstar Miley Cyrus, whose song 'Flowers' is up for International Song of the Year alongside Jazzy's 'Giving Me'.

Reacting to news of her nomination, CMAT posted on Instagram to say, "I, like my contemporary Kylie Minogue, am nominated for the BRITS for International Artist of the Year. If you don't know who I am, that's okay, I don't either! Welcome!"

She also posted a video to social media, where she joked about her nomination, stating she "doesn't know why this is happening either".

She said, "I make music, that's enough to get qualified, and it's really good actually, it's the one thing I will confidently say is that my music is really good and deserves to be nominated, it's just a shame I have to go and represent it."

Jazzy also posted her reaction on Instagram with a caption reading: "It's hard to believe I'm writing this. 'Giving Me' has been nominated for International Song of the Year at the BRITS. [I] can't explain how I'm feeling right now, from reaching number one on the Irish charts to hitting 100 million straems worldwide and witnessing the incredible love and support from all of yous  makes me so proud.

"Couldn't have done it without my brothers who gave me a platform and put me on the map, Belters Only, we goin' the BRITS!"
