The organisers of the popular Electric Picnic festival have addressed social media rumours about whether the 2024 festival is going ahead.
It comes in response to rife speculation online about why this year's line-up has not yet been revealed.
Last year, Electric Picnic headliners including Billie Eilish and Lewis Capaldi were announced earlier than usual in December 2022, followed by a full line-up announcement on April 21, 2023.
However, no hints about the 2024 line-up have been dropped so far by EP organisers, with many fans taking the radio silence as a bad sign.
Ticket holders took to X (formerly Twitter) this week to voice their frustration, with some speculating on whether or not the highly anticipated festival had been cancelled.
One X user commented, "What’s happening with Electric Picnic this year. Why no line-up yet? Is it being cancelled?"
Another commented, "It’s been 223 days since Electric Picnic sold out (which was before the 2023 EP even took place) and since I bought my ticket, the payment plans are all fully paid and yet not a single act has been announced."
Despite the lack of news, however, an Electric Picnic spokesperson has confirmed there is no need to worry.
They told the Leinster Express: "Of course it's going ahead. We released the line-up late April last year also."
Although this placated most ticket-holders, some demanded more information.
One X user commented, "Instead of telling us Electric Picnic isn’t cancelled can you just give us the line up?"
An Instagram user commented, "The festival being earlier this year should mean the lineup is announced earlier. Claiming 'sure last year was late April' isn't good enough."
Others didn't believe the organisers, with an Instagram user commenting, "When will you admit the festival is cancelled?"
Another commented, "Announce the refunds."
Hundreds of ticket holders have advertised their tickets for sale online since early March, with dozens posted just in the last few days.
This year's festival is due to take place on from August 16 to August 18.
