Popular Carlow Influencer Lauren Whelan launches new podcast 'Under the Influencer'

Under the Influencer is a brand new podcast brought to you by the team behind The 2 Johnnies Podcast and Dee Reddy from Poddle Audio, Gen Z’s It girls Miriam Mullins and Carlow influencer Lauren Whelan will take listeners on a weekly deep dive into the Irish influencer scene with topics ranging from pop culture to current industry trends, providing a trusted source to catch-up on all that’s happening from two industry insiders.

Blending their different personalities, perspectives and a bit of good humour, episode one - out this Thursday 27th June - will see Miriam and Lauren address their early beef and online spat. The girls fell out before they even met highlighting just how toxic social media can be. It was nothing that an actual phone call couldn’t sort out and since then their friendship has gone from strength to strength. Lauren concludes: ‘All good friendships start with a fight!’

The girls tackle the subject of aesthetics and discuss the rise in popularity of tweakments such as Botox and Filler, and with an ever-growing number of young girls accessing both surgical and non-surgical treatments this is a topic the girls are keen to chat about. Acknowledging they earn a living as influencers the girls are adamant if they don’t believe in something the simply won’t promote it.

Miriam: "We are both aware that our audience is very young and if it’s not something we get or want we are not going to promote it."

They are approached weekly by aesthetic clinics and while they won’t judge anybody who feels they would like to enhance how they look, at their age they feel they just don’t need it!

Lauren: "I am 22 years of age, I don’t need botox! If you’ve had an insecurity for a while and you know a little bit of filler will make you feel more confident, you do you. It’s important not to get something done just because everyone else does it. Everyone looks gorgeous without it, you don’t need it!"

Miriam follows up saying: "I got an email to go to Turkey to get a BBL! For influencers it’s so easily accessible, a lot of people look up to influencers and 90% of them have something done. When we go to events a lot of people look the same! Natural beauty isn’t a thing anymore."
