'We need part two' - RTE Room To Improve fans devastated after end to last episode
Viewers of the last episode in the current series of RTE's hit show Room To Improve were left devastated for couple Cal Moran and Sean Hegarty.
The pair had paid almost €400,000 for a house in a quiet street in the shadow of Croke Park in Dublin and while they were wowed by Dermot's plans for the project, they hit snag after snag with the episode ending in devastating consequences.
Builders discovered water rising under every floor in the house, meaning expensive work had to be done in the foundation to keep out the risk of damp rising up the walls of the revamped home.
Other issues uncovered eventually led to overruns in costs of around €35,000, eating into Cal and Sean's life savings. Despite, the issues, the lads remained positive and the episode saw them picking out finishes like kitchen cabinets and bedroom furniture.
The final scene of the episode left fans almost in tears as the lads traipsed into the house, still in hi-vis vests, at it was still a partial building site and wasn't finished in time for the air date of the episode.

Viewers were shown the almost completed kitchen which had been dressed with furniture and furnishings but the cameras revealed the job was far from finished. Dermot told the lads that "a couple of weeks" would see the job through.

Viewers were quick to react to the shock ending with many used to admiring the final finished house at the end of each episode. Some were even left calling for another episode in a few weeks with one saying, "we need a part two, feel so bad for the lads."
Another viewer moaned: "Seriously, RTE, what's the point in showing half a renovation? More cost cutting? Very annoying."
One viewer said: "Can’t believe I’ll never know if they kept the fireplace or if they got a wardrobe."
Others felt the episode showed the more realistic side of home renovations. One commented: "I don't mind that the house wasn't fully finished. It's more realistic. Some of the shows spend an hour of peril...they've no money!... It won't be finished! Only to see a turn key ending. This was more real. Lots of work to do. No money left!!"
