A classic episode of Father Ted now comes with a trigger warning.
The 1998 episode of the acclaimed Irish comedy, Are You Right There, Father Ted?, sees Ted, played by Dermot Morgan, get caught up in a misunderstanding where everyone on Craggy Island thinks he's racist, including the new Chinese family that have just moved in.
Channel 4's streaming service All4, has now placed a guidance not at the beginning of the episode which reads,
"This episode was made in 1998 and contains language and racial impersonations which some viewers may find offensive."
The episode, which is the first of series three, sees Ted and Dougal landed with the housework while Mrs Doyle nurses an injured back. During the scene, Ted puts a lampshade on his head and pretending to be someone of Asian descent, unaware the new Chinese family, The Yin's, are staring at him through the window.
Later on in the episode, Ted can be seen at the window again, explaining his actions and gesturing his arms while pontificating that he is anything but a racist, blissfully unaware that there is a perfect black square on the window that matches up with his face, giving him a moustache exactly like Hitler's.
The plot was found to be potentially offensive by the All4 streaming service.
