Season two of the hit Netflix series Wednesday premiered a London’s Westminster Abbey, three years after the show's debut season, with the cast and creators walking the purple carpet outside Central Hall and Queen Elizabeth II Centre.

Among those in attendance at the London premiere was Ireland’s own actor TJ Hyland, who was dressed by Irish fashion designer Aisling Kavanagh, and influencer Miriam Mullins.

The series, which was filmed on location in Ireland, is centered around main character, Wednesday Addams, played by Jenna Ortega, returning to Nevermore Academy to face a series of fresh foes and difficulties.

This season Addams must navigate family, as younger brother Pugsley arrives at Nevermore Academy, new and old friends, as well as old adversaries.

With her signature wit and deadpan charm Addams must navigate the mayhem and supernatural mysteries that await her at Nevermore Academy.

The new season of Wednesday was filmed in Ireland with scenes being recorded in Charleville Castle (Offaly), Kilternan (Wicklow), Clonliffe (Dublin) and Roundwood (Wicklow).

Charleville Castle in County Offaly served as the onscreen corridors of Nevermore Academy.

The decoration of Nevermore Academy is also inspired by Irish influence.

Set decorator, Neville Gaynor, created the wallpaper used in the show, based on illustrations from renowned Irish stained-glass artist Harry Clarke.

Clarke illustrated the cover of Edgar Allen Poe’s first novel in the 19th century, and the work of Allen Poe heavily influences the series, including down to the name of Nevermore Academy.

Panels of wallpaper, shaped by Clarke’s work, can be seen throughout the season depicting the different stories of Poe including: Ligeia, The Masque of the Red Death, The Tell-tale Heart and The Fall of the House of Usher.

Some of Wednesdays most exciting scene sets were built at the same locations in County Wicklow as other Netflix show, Vikings: Vahalla filmed at in October 2020.

The star-studded cast enjoyed their time filming in Ireland with lead actor Jenna Ortega commenting on her time here as: “ It was wonderful. The crew was so hardworking, so sweet. Everybody here really felt like a family and it’s wonderful that they’ve all shot together so much. My favourite thing was just how kind the people are, but also the countryside was really nice. I did my best to see as much of the island as I could while I was there. I went north, south, east, west, I went all over. I’m pretty proud of myself.”

Isaac Ordonez, who plays Pugsley Addams, remarked that: “The country is amazing. It was great because we were able to utilize some of the natural stuff in Ireland. We filmed at a waterfall and at a really cool building in Dublin, which you’ll see in Episodes three and four.”

Wednesday season two will be available to stream on Netflix with the first part of the season being released on August 6 and the second part being released on September 3.
