The Traitors Ireland premiered on RTÉ One on Sunday August 31 with 24 new contestants, but one has a very interesting connection to the GAA Catfish Scandal
The first episode of the hugely anticipated The Traitors Ireland finally graced Irish screens last Sunday when viewers were introduced to the 24 contestants taking part.
With players from all across the country participating, there is one contestant in particular that viewers may recognize from elsewhere.
27-year-old Event Co-Ordinator Faye Brennan from County Dublin, was previously caught up in the GAA Catfish Scandal.
The woman at the centre of the scandal took Faye's images from her social media accounts and used them to catfish men in the sport and entertainment industries across Ireland.

During an interview with Goss.ie back in January, Faye revealed how her photos were stolen by the infamous GAA Catfish.

Faye had multiples photos taken from her Instagram account and said at the time she was considering taking legal action against the "dangerous" imposter.
Faye has previously revealed that the woman who stole her photos contacted her in 2023 using the alias of 'Aoife Kennedy'.
She explained that the Aoife Kennedy account DM'd her when they were both in Marbella during the summer, 'Aoife' asked if she could recommend somewhere to go to watch her boyfriend's GAA match on TV, and Faye recommended a pub to her.
That was the last of their contact until June 2024 when Faye received another message from the Aoife Kennedy account after she "got caught catfishing".
Faye explained: "She sent me a massive message and was like, 'Please ignore any text you get from my boyfriend. He's gone crazy thinking I'm using your pictures, he thinks we're the same person'. Mad stuff, and I was like what are you on about?"
She continued: "So I just blocked her, and I just didn't hear anything more. And then I heard of all the catfishing stuff with Aoife Kennedy, and then I put it all together that she was the GAA Catfish, but I only copped that a few days ago."
Faye said the Aoife Kennedy account used a mix of pictures from her feed and stories but only shared them in private DMs.
The 2 Johnnies have extensively covered the scandal that the woman was using photos from other people's accounts to catfish men in what became known as the 'GAA Catfish Scandal' in a three part series on their podcast.
The woman allegedly catfished numerous men under different aliases over a prolonged period. She even catfished Johnny B of The 2 Johnnies, under the alias of Cora O'Donovan.

In the first two instalments on their podcast, Johnny B told listeners his stories of a catfish who targeted GAA stars and other media people, he said: "Last year, I became single. It's never easy, no matter what way it goes. And in January, around Christmas time, this girl follows me on Instagram.
He continued: "She's absolutely stunning, drop-dead gorgeous. She's from Limerick, has 15k followers, and is followed by a few people I know personally and is followed by a few well-known people from the industry, from showbiz. So, one night I'm looking at her stories and I said, Go on. I'll send her an old DM."
Johnny B and 'Cora' messaged for weeks with plans to meet up, however 'Cora' would always back out giving excuses of being sick and relatives dying.
Once he realised that she was a fake profile, Johnny B uncovered that not only was he catfished but that she was a serial catfish.
He revealed that he later found out that she ran numerous profiles and directly affected over 100 people with her catfishing.
In 2024, The 2 Johnnies were contacted by several men who believed they were being deceived by someone going by the new name of 'Aoife Kennedy'.
Upon investigation, it became they realized the original catfish who had catfished Johnny B, known as Cora O'Donovan, had resurfaced under a new alias.
In Part 3, listeners heard an account from County Conor*, who was catfished by 'Aoife' under her new Aoife Kennedy, the alias which was using Faye's photos.
Faye has revealed that she had been in contact with The 2 Johnnies since the emergence of her connection to the GAA Catfish Scandal.
She explained: "I've been back and forth speaking to them, they're telling me things, I'm telling them things, and they're putting more and more information together, but they didn't know it was anything to do with me. I sent them all the messages I have with her, and they were like 'what the hell?' And they're telling me things that I didn't even know. So, it's just mad."
