Local Carlow snooker player makes it all the way to World Disability Snooker Championship Final

Local Carlow snooker player, Colvin O Brien, made it all the way to the World Disability Snooker Championship Final in Thailand this past week.

He made it the final where he came up against fellow Irishman, Dylan Rees, who eventually won their match and took home the title winning by 3 frames in the final.

Colvin took to his Facebook page to share his feelings following the final:

"Unfortunately I fell at the Final Hurdle I'm so dissappointed the way I played in that world final.

Ah well luck world runner up to my good pal Dylan Rees thanks to everyone who wished me well all week and I'm sorry if I let anyone down .
Congratulations Dyl it's about time u got one over on me, the biggest of them all.
Enjoy bud and thanks for everything here in Thailand wdbs world snooker championships 2025 to all my sponsors and people of carlow thanks very much.
Maybe one day I'll be a world champion.
The snooker gods were not on my side today.
Thanks everyone much love."
