Carlow teen 'over the moon' to perform during prestigious event at the RDS Dublin
A remarkable achievement by a remarkable Carlow teenager
A Carlow teen has been selected along with some of the very best performers throughout Ireland to perform at a prestigious event at the RDS Dublin called 'Perform Ireland'.
Alicia Premkumar - the only participant to be representing Carlow at the event - has several distinctions in musical theatre as well as being awarded a high achievers award from the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
She will be performing on the main stage at the RDS alongside Kimberly Wyatt from the Pussycat Dolls and West End star Adam Garcia which will be followed by a meet and greet.
The event takes place this weekend from February 16 to 17 and she will be performing on February 16.
'Perform Ireland' is a collaborative educational performance event, bringing together singers, dancers, actors, musicians and musical theatre performers.
Alicia - who lives in Castle Oaks in Carlow - is in Transition Year at St Leo's College.
She sent a video audition and was "over the moon" to be selected along with the others throughout Ireland and says she developed her love of performing at Spotlight Ireland here in Carlow.
Alicia is delighted also to have been invited to perform back in Carlow on February 21 where she will be perfoming in 'A Musical Cabaret' organised by Carlow's own Janice de Broithe.
This event will take place in the Seven Oaks Hotel and the event is in aid of Follaine, Carlow Regional Youth Services.
