Police in the United States are investigating the death of a young Carlow woman, found at Montauk Yacht Club in America in the early hours of the morning.

American police have said that several attempts were made to resuscitate Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra (33) by good samaritans before first responders arrived on the scene.

A man at the boat club called the East Hampton Town police at 12am - approximately 5am Irish time - to report that Martha was unconscious.

Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra worked as a fashion designer who founded the clothes brand East x East. She studied at UCD and helped establish the Irish Wheelchair Association’s online presence as part of a college project.

She recently did an interview with the Irish Independent about her success as an entrepreneur and a fashion designer.

At the time of the incident, Martha was living in Manhattan.
