Tributes paid to 'Carlow woman whose 'legacy will be in etched in hearts' following her passing

Mona DEMPSEY (née Cooney) - Tuesday 27th August 2024

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Mona Dempsey (nee Cooney) of College Street, Carlow.

Mona passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday August 27th 2024.

Beloved wife of the late Mick and much loved mother of Maura, Mona, Pat, Mary-Clare, Deirdre and John. Sadly missed by her loving daughters, son, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Tributes have been paid on condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows:

"Dear Jack, we are saddened to hear of your Mom’s passing, albeit at a great age. I met her a few times at the door of her house as I was heading to rackets! She was a beautiful lady & her legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. You and your siblings had a wonderful role model. Go raibh leaba i measc na Naomh ag Mona."

Another reads: "Our sincere condolences to all of the Dempsey & Cooney Families on the sad passing of your dear mother Mona. May Mona's gentle soul rest in peace"

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing at her daughter Mary-Clare’s home (Springhill, Killeshin, Carlow R93 Y2FB) on Thursday from 3pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Friday at 10am in the Cathedral of the Assumption. Burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
