Tributes paid to a 'friendly gentle lady' following the passing of Carlow woman

Bridget (Bridie) Abbey - Monday 9th September 2024

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Bridget (Bridie) Abbey of Conway, Green Road, County Carlow.

Bridget passed away peacefully in the gentle care of the Barrow Ward, St Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny.

Beloved wife of the late Michael and adored mother of Michelle, Sharon, Karl and Denise. Sadly missed by her loving son, daughters, brothers Tom, Seán and Peter, sister Patsy, son-in-law Barry, Denise’s fiancé Columba, grandchildren Eoin, Kate, Emily, Conor, Finn, Clara and Theo, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, her dear friend Ena, relatives and friends. Predeceased by her baby daughter Karen and by her brothers Séamus and Paddy.

Tributes have been paid on the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows: 

"Sincere condolences to Michelle and all the Abbey Family at this sad time. Your mam was a lovely friendly gentle lady. May she rest in peace."

Another reads: "We are very sorry to hear of Bridie's passing. Sincere condolences to Michelle, Sharon, Denise and Karl, your families and the extended Conway & Abbey families. We are thinking of you all at this sad time. May she rest in peace."

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing in R. Healy & Son Funeral Home Pollerton Castle, Carlow on Thursday evening (Sept 12th) from 4pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass on Friday at 11am in Holy Family Church, Askea. Burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Carlow.
