Tributes paid to Carlow priest who was a 'true gentleman' following his passing

Very Rev. Fr. Joseph (Joe) FLEMING - Thursday 28th November 2024

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Very Rev. Fr. Joseph (Joe) Fleming PE CC,of Clonegal, Co. Carlow and formerly of Ballynoe, Ardattin, Co. Carlow, Retired Parish Priest Clonegal Parish.

Fr. Joseph passed away unexpectedly on November 28th 2024.

Sadly missed by his loving sister Teresa Nolan, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, sister-in-law Rosaleen Fleming, Bishop Denis Nulty, fellow priests, former parishioners, relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents John and Anne, brothers Fr. Lar, Richard and Gerard and by his sisters Sr. Brigid, Sr, Máire and Ann Drea.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughters, grandchildren, daughter-in-law Katie, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Tributes have been paid on the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows: 

"Deepest sympathy to all his family and friends, Fr. Fleming was a true gentleman who will never be forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace. "

Another reads:

"Deepest sympathy to the family, friends & community on the sad passing of Father Joe. Fond memories of his great work & and ever generous demeanour during his Ministry in Mountmellick. May he rest in everlasting peace."

Funeral arrangements 

Funeral arriving at St. Brigid’s Church, Clonegal on Saturday for evening Mass at 6.30pm and concluding with evening prayer at 9pm. Reposing on Sunday from 1pm concluding with prayers at 6pm. Funeral Mass on Monday at 11am. Burial afterwards in the churchgrounds.
