Tributes paid following the passing of prominent Carlow Irish language activist, poet and writer

Pádraig Ó Snodaigh - Dublin and Carlow - Thursday 2nd January 2025

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Pádraig Ó Snodaigh (Oliver Snoddy) late of Dublin and County Carlow.

Pádraig passed away peacefully at his home on January 2nd 2025.

Missed by his sons Fergus, Aengus, Colm, Cormac, Rónán and Rossa, and their families, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his sister Pauline. May he rest in peace with wife Cliodhna, sister Mary and his parents who passed before him.

Tributes have been paid on the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows: 

"Deepest condolences to our friend Aengus and the wider O' Snodaigh family. Thinking of you all at this sad time. RIP Padraig."

Another reads: 

"Déanaim comhbhrón le Aengus agus le clann Phádraig, lena gaolta agus lena cairde uile. May Padraig rest in peace"

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing at his home in Howth on Sunday 5th January, from 3pm-7pm. Funeral Mass on Monday at 11.30am in Church of St. Peter and Paul, Baldoyle (D13 N840) with burial afterwards to St. Fintan’s Graveyard, Sutton. Family flowers. Donations to Médecins Sans Frontières.
