'Emergency services haven't a clue where they're going,' concerns over signage in Carlow estates

Councillor raises concerns over signage in two Bagenalstown estates
"Emergency services haven't a clue where they're going," a Bagenalstown councillor has raised concerns over signage in two Bagenalstown estates.
Cllr Andy Gladney raised the issue at this month's meeting of Bagenalstown Municipal District when he brought up signage at Glenn na Bearú and Ashfield in the town.
He said "emergency services haven't a clue where they're going" as there are no signs to identify where you are.
Cllr Gladney highlighted two cases of cardiac arrest recently in the estates where the ambulances were delayed because they went to the wrong areas.
"I was in the house for one of them and instead of going into Glenn na Bearú they [the ambulance] went into Ashfield," he told members.
"Could the Council look into it or maybe the councillors could put their hands in their pockets [for signage]," Cllr Gladney added.
Area engineer, Jerry Crowley, said he would look into the issue as he "wasn't aware of it".
