Carlow Voices present their annual 'Wintersong 2024' concert
The choir hosts their Wintersong 2024 on the 14th December 2024
Carlow Voices is inviting members of the public to step out of the December wind and into a warm gust of song on Saturday, December 14, from 7pm as the choir hosts its annual Wintersong, a much-loved holiday tradition guaranteed to soothe the soul and jump-start the holiday season.Set in the resplendent beauty of St. Mary’s Church of Ireland, Church St, Carlow, R93 YW77, the concert programme, accompanied by a live band, will celebrate the holiday season with a blend of song, music, and story from many different genres and eras for audiences to enjoy. Raffle proceeds on the night go to a worthy local charity.
Members of the public are invited to make their season bright with well-known seasonal favourites like Gordon Lightfoot’s Song for a Winter’s Night or Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. The choir will also sing traditional favourites like O Christmas Tree and Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.
Commenting ahead of the concert, Carlow Voices Musical Director, Marian Gaynor, said: "We are thrilled to bring Wintersong to our community once again. This concert is a beautiful blend of tradition and contemporary music that truly captures the essence of the festive season. Our choir has
been working hard to prepare a programme that will warm hearts and bring joy to all who attend."
Carlow Voices’ charity partner for Wintersong is Éist Cancer Support Centre. Éist Cancer Support Centre provides emotional support and practical help to anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis, as well as their families and carers. All proceeds from a raffle on the night will be donated to Éist Cancer Support Centre.
Anne Marie, Service Manager of Éist Cancer Support Centre, said: "Charity partnerships like this one with Carlow Voices raise much-needed funds to support the delivery of our services. They also raise awareness. I would like to wish the members of Carlow Voices the best with their Wintersong performance."
WINTERSONG is a concert that celebrates the song and stories that shape the winter season.
