The lunar event will be seen across Ireland and the UK and other parts of the Eastern hemisphere
A significant celestial event will be visible in Carlow on July 27 as the moon is totally eclipsed by the Earth for 103 minutes, turning it a deep shade of red.
The eclipse will be the longest of the 21st Century so far. A 'Blood Moon' occurs when the moon lines up with the Earth and sun, with the Earth's atmosphere refracting the light onto the moon causing it to turn red.
It's also expected that Mars will be shining its brightest in 15 years.
The lunar event will be seen across Ireland and the UK and other parts of the Eastern hemisphere. It's thought that the best time to witness it here will roughly be between 9pm and 10.30pm.
As with most such night-sky events, the best place to see it is out in the country away from lights.
