It has been confirmed that former Laois under-20 footballer Ross Bolger will be taking up a two-year scholarship with Division One American football university Idaho State.

Bolger, who has represented Carlow RFC, caught the attention of a lot of eyes both here and over in the US after a TikTok showcasing Ross' skillset went viral at the start of the year.

Speaking to Morning Ireland in January, Ross explained why his ability to kick with both feet made him stand out from American-born applicants.

"The video was just a video of me punting for Pace University. The coach just asked me if could I kick off my left foot as well. I'd be used to doing that in Gaelic football for years. They loved that because in general American kickers can only kick with one foot. If you can interchange between both feet though the opposition has to put two returners back so it's a huge benefit."

The Killehsin native joins Idaho State as a punter and as a kicker.
