Carlow star Marty Kavanagh collected the Joe McDonagh Cup Hurler of the Year award for 2023 at a gala presentation in Croke Park on Friday last.
The St Mullins clubman, widely recognised as one of the most prolific forwards in the game, had an exceptional season in which he finished as top scorer, including a 1-8 man of the match display in their thrilling final win over Offaly at GAA HQ.
Kavanagh was named on the Joe McDonagh Cup Team of the Year alongside six of his teammates as the Dolmen County is represented on every line of the pitch.
Goalkeeper Brian Tracey is joined by the busy Jack McCullagh and Diarmuid Byrne in defence, the point-scoring James Doyle in midfield, and the lethal finishing forwards that are Chris Nolan, Paddy Boland, and Martin Kavanagh.
