Almost 3,000 Carlow premises can avail of high-speed fibre broadband from today

Almost 3,000 Carlow premises can avail of high-speed fibre broadband from today (February 10).

Homes, businesses and farms in places such as Tinryland, Leighlinbridge and Nurney are ready to connect, according to National Broadband Ireland (NBI).

It's part of the initiative connecting high speed fibre-to-the-home network under the National Broadband Plan on behalf of the Irish government.

NBI is calling on people living near Carlow Town to visit nbi.ie/map/ and enter their Eircode to see if they are ready to connect.

Chief Executive Officer of NBI, Peter Hendrick, said: “We have seen a great uptake on our high-speed broadband network already in Carlow Town. The best way for people who live or run a business in the area to check their eligibility is to visit the National Broadband Ireland website.

"A connection to our network will enable users to experience the life-changing benefits that high-speed broadband provides.”

Eight thousand premises in Co Carlow are included in the state's Intervention Area, which will see NBI deliver minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second.

As the biggest investment in rural Ireland since rural electrification, County Carlow will receive €32m of Government investment under the National Broadband Plan.

Signing up to the NBI email notifications at https://nbi.ie/eoi/ is the easiest way to get the most up to date status of premises during the rollout and when premises will be ready for order.

Over 118,045 premises nationwide are available to order broadband on the NBI network so far.
