BMW driver appears in court in the Midlands after mounting a roundabout and colliding with another car
A BMW driver mounted a roundabout and collided with another car in Portlaoise, a sitting of Portlaoise District Court was told.
Orie Farrell, 29, of St Anthony’s, Clogrennan, Carlow was accused of not having insurance, a licence and driving without reasonable consideration at Ridge Road, Portlaoise on February 2, 2022.
Garda O’Connor gave evidence of attending a collision between a blue BMW and a white Ford Focus on the date in question. She said the BMW was on top of the roundabout and she spoke to the driver.
It was established that he had been driving from the direction of Peter and Paul’s Church.
“He drove over the roundabout and collided with the vehicle,” she explained.
The man was asked to produce his licence and insurance at a garda station. He nominated Carlow but failed to produce the documents, said Garda O’Connor. She said he has 17 previous convictions.
Judge Andrew Cody fined the man a total of €1,200 and disqualified him from driving for four years.
