CARLOW WEATHER: Sunny spells and heavy showers expected today (May 8)

Sunny spells and showers are expected today (May 8). 

That's according to Met Éireann, which also forecasts widespread and heavy showers during the afternoon with thunderstorms and spot flooding likely in some areas. 

The heavy showers will mostly clear by nightfall. 

Highest temperatures will be between 14 to 20 degrees with light to moderate southwest breezes.

Tonight will be mainly dry with clear spells as showers become isolated, and some mist patches developing. 

=Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in a light southwesterly breeze.
