WHAT'S ON: Carlow events celebrating the start of National Heritage Week commencing this weekend

National Heritage Week 2023 commences Saturday 12th August which will see a multitude of free events take place across the country celebrating Ireland’s cultural, built and natural heritage.

Carlow has may unique events and exhibitions in store to entertain and educate both locals and tourists.

Some highlights from Saturday's lineup include:

  • History of Lisnavagh House & Gardens & Farmyard, Co. Carlow: Talk, Woodland Walk & Hedge Laying Workshop
  • Gathering Stories of Drummin Bog - St Mullins Carlow
  • Tours of Huntington Castle, Co. Carlow, in association with Historic Houses of Ireland
  • Tours of Shankill Castle and Gardens - In asssociation with Historic Houses of Ireland
  • Talk at Brownshill Dolmen, Hackettstown Road, Co. Carlow

Sunday 13th August will see the festivities continue with more events, including:

  • Wildflower Walk and Talk Along the Barrow
  • Viewing of Traditional Farm Buildings in Borris, Carlow
  • Rathanna N.S. School Reunion
  • Carlow Rocks to a Turbulent Past: The story of Carlow's Physical Landscape (A Lecture by Dr. Peader McArdle)
