More than 4,000 road traffic offences issued in Carlow for speeding/ driving using a phone

Road traffic legislation is enforced as part of the day-to-day duties of members of An Garda Síochána, as well as through a programme of high-visibility road safety and enforcement operations, carried out in partnership with other State agencies, including Government Departments, the Road Safety Authority, the National Roads Authority, and the community, in order to make roads safer for all users.

The number of road traffic offences issued for speeding in Kilkenny/Carlow division in the time period from 1st January to 29th August 2023 totaled 3,707.

While the number of road traffic offences issued for using a mobile phone while driving in Kilkenny/Carlow division in the time period from 1st January to 29th August 2023 totaled 551. This is already higher than last years figure of 514 for the complete year.
