Works are expected to commence shortly on the construction of new development in Ballon

Works are expected to commence shortly on the construction of a development in Ballon, County Carlow.

The development was granted planning permission after an application was approved for change of use of the existing dwelling house at Fenagh Road/Ballykealy Lane to a community centre.

The development comprises of the demolition of a single storey 6.2m2 boiler room, the reconfiguration of the existing rooms to provide meeting rooms, office, toilet and canteen, and construction of a single storey extension of 37m2 to provide a multi-function community room, accessible shower room, and ramped access to the rear.

The development will include:

  • Forty-six car parking spaces (including two disability access spaces)
  • Seven electric vehicle charging points
  • Twenty-two bicycle spaces
  • Relocation of the vehicle entrance on Fenagh Road/Ballykealy Lane with a new pedestrian access point
  • New boundary treatment along the perimeter of the site and associated site works and services

The estimated cost of the development is €45.6k and is expected to be completed in three months, before the end of the year.
