Five new wind turbines on Carlow land given the green light by council

Carlow County Council has approved a planning application for the erection of five wind turbines located in Bilboa, Co. Carlow.

The application was submitted by Bilboa Wind Farm at the end of 2022.

The development will consist of the erection of five wind turbines (with turbine blade diameter of 117m and overall height to tip of 136.5m), as well as a permanent meteorlogical mast, access road and internal tracks, electricity sub-station, temporary construction compound, turbine laydown area, control building, borrow pit, crane hardstanding, and underground cabling.

The application also details the felling of up to approximately eighteen hectares of forestry and all associated site works, with an operation lifetime of 30 years. 

The application is accompanied by a Planning Report, Environmental Impact Assessment, and Natura Impact Statement.
