Work has commenced on Carlow Tullow Road pedestrians and cyclists scheme

The main contractor Priority Construction Limited has commenced work on the pedestrians and cyclists scheme as part of the Active Travel works in the Tullow Road housing area.

The Tullow Road pedestrian and cycle scheme involves the development of a comprehensive pedestrian and cycle facility along the L-40425 road. The scheme will connect residential areas like John Sweeney Park, Silver Pines, and Burrin Manor.

The existing shared cycle and pedestrian infrastructure will expand to link up with the Burren River walk and cycle track.

Also, a new vehicular junction will be constructed between John Sweeney Park and the Burrin Manor estates to accommodate a new entrance to a proposed community center in the public open space adjacent to L-40435.

The works are expected to take approximately six months, to be completed in April 2024.
