Two Carlow schools are amongst first in Ireland to launch new fitness programme

Two Carlow schools, Presentation College Carlow and Ballon National School, are amongst the first in Ireland to launch a new fitness initiative ‘Fit Squad’.

The programme is supported by Irish-banana distributor Fyffes and delivered by Irish fitness expert Sharon Flanagan where they make in-person school visits. The students participate in an active age-appropriate workout designed to improve their general fitness during which advice on the importance of healthy eating was given.

The new initiative runs until March 2024 and will see 10,000 pupils participate from schools across Ireland. Since the programme was first introduced in 2018, almost 40,000 students will have taken part.
