Carlow authorities urge those sleeping rough during cold weather warning to contact them
Carlow County Council issue a statement in relation to homeless people who are sleeping rough in the county.
'With the assistance of funding provided by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and in accordance with the Regional Homeless Action Plan, Carlow County Council is operating a cold weather initiative for anyone that is homeless and rough sleeping.'
The scheme, which has been in operation since late October, encourages any person that is rough sleeping to contact Carlow County Council and avail of an overnight bed during any cold weather spell.
'Given the low temperature warning issued by Met Éireann, Carlow County Council wishes to highlight to anyone that is rough sleeping to make contact with homeless services by email homeless@carlowcoco.ie or 24 hours a day by phone at 0599170300.'
'If any member of the public sees a person rough sleeping they may report this and a member of the homeless services team will investigate. The homeless team will also actively carry out patrols in Carlow Town areas and make contact with homeless people at risk during extreme weather.'
