'Life can be so cruel' - Tributes flood in for Carlow pedestrian killed days after Christmas

Tributes have been paid to a Carlow woman in her 70s who died after being hit by a vehicle while out walking near her home in Carlow on Friday last.

Marian Morgan (née Costello) of Lower Tinryland and Rathcrogue, Carlow died in the accident on the N80 in the townland of Rathcrogue at approximately 6.30pm on Friday, December 27.

The male driver, aged in his 20s, of the car was uninjured.

Ms Morgan is survived by her husband, Jim, and her children, Jennifer, Peter and Kate.

"Dearly loved wife of Jim and adored mother of Jennifer, Peter and Kate and most cherished sister of Tom, Pat, Bernie, Morgan, Kevin, Laz, Paddy, Breda, Noleen, Gerry, Pauline, Angela, Damien and Nick," reads her death notice on RIP.ie

"Sadly missed by her heartbroken husband, son, daughters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends."

Tributes have been paid on RIP.ie with one friend saying: “May you rest in peace Marian. Life can be so cruel. Condolences to all your family."

Another wrote: "Our heartfelt sympathies to all of Marian's family at this devastating time. Marian was the essence of a lady and it was always such a pleasure to chat with her. May she now rest in peace."

While a third said: "My heartfelt condolences to the Morgan and Costello families on the passing of Marian. It was always a pleasure to work with her, and she genuinely cared about everyone she met and interacted with."

Marian will be reposing at her home on Tuesday, December 31 from 1pm to 6pm with removal on Wednesday morning (New Years Day) to St. Joseph’s Church, Tinryland to arrive for Funeral Mass at 11am. Private cremation to take place at a later date.
