A Carlow community is in mourning following the sad passing of Andrea Zerafa (Rooney), a beloved mother of three who has been described as "strong, brave and beautiful".
Andrea, late of Laragh, Ballon, county Carlow, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Oak Ward, University Hospital, Waterford, surrounded by her heartbroken husband Stephen, children Ethan, Jonah and Winnie, her mother Heather, and brothers' Dion and Peter.
She is predeceased by her father Joe and father-in-law Liam.

Andrea is deeply regretted by her husband, children, mother, brothers, mother-in-law Anne, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, kind neighbours and Andrea's many friends.
Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and loved Andrea, with one mourner writing,
"I am heartbroken to hear this news. My heart goes out to Stephen, her children, the Zerafa family and Andrea's wide circle of friends. Such a brave and beautiful woman, she gave us all a masterclass on what it means to fight for your life. Rest now in peace Andrea."
Another wrote,
"Heartbreaking news for a wonderful mother who fought so hard with this awful diagnosis, a truly inspirational woman of strength bravely borne."
While another wrote,
"I'm so sorry to hear of Andrea’s passing. She was such a warm and genuine person, always stopping for a friendly chat and lighting up every conversation with her beautiful smile. Thinking of the Zerafa and Rooney families and sending love to you all during this very sad time. Rest peacefully, Andrea."

Funeral Arrangements
Reposing at Kearney's Funeral Home, Fenagh on Thursday from 3pm until 8pm. Funeral Service on Friday at 12 noon in All Saint's Church, Aghade (R93 XD79) followed by burial in the adjoining churchyard.
Family flowers only please.
