New data has revealed a breakdown of costs that students in Carlow are faced with on a monthly basis, including an average of €657 for rent alone

Carlow named the fourth most expensive student town in Ireland

Carlow has been named the fourth most expensive town in Ireland for college students according to a new study.

The new data by Switcher.ie, has revealed a breakdown of how much it costs for a student to go to college in Carlow.

Accommodation on average costs Carlow students €657 a month with an extra €87 for utilities.

For a month of groceries, a typical student would spend around €237 a month and a further €143 on transport costs.

The monthly average cost of entertainment for a student in Carlow comes to €351 as well as €62 if they want a monthly gym membership.

This brings total monthly costs for a student in Carlow to €1,533 a month.

Add on college tuition fees and a student is facing a grand total average of €16,797 a year.
