There is great despair in Carlow following the sad death of J. Patrick Doogue and messages have poured in from countless peopl to express their condolences and sadness

RIP: 'A truly gentle soul'- Carlow husband and father of two dies in hospital recently

Tributes have poured in following the death of a husband and father of two from Carlow Town.

J (Patrick) Doogue passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on October 9th, 2025, at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.

He was the beloved husband of Anne, much loved father of Nicole and Matty, adored grandfather of Isla, treasured step-father of Antoinette, Avril, Anna and Bertram, cherished brother of Derek, Angela. Kieran and Ian and dear son of Paddy and the late Teresa.

He will be sadly missed by his loving son, daughter, father, grandchild, step-grandchildren, brothers, sister, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, uncle, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Eileen, with one mourner writing,

"My deepest sympathy to all PJ's family at this sad time of his sudden loss. PJ was a true gentleman and a valued colleague . He always had time for a chat and a laugh and brought such comfort by his presence when working late.
Rest in peace PJ".

Another message said from a HSE colleague said, "Sincere condolences to Anne and PJs extended family and friends. PJ was always a pleasure to deal with and always welcomed us with a smile on his face. He will be very much missed by all colleagues in the HSE and especially our team in Home Support Services for Older Persons. May he rest in peace".

"Please accept my deepest sympathies on your loss. PJ was a truly gentle soul, whose kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him, myself included. We will miss his warm presence and his memorable parting words, 'don't forget to go home' and 'Have a good evening.' May his gentle soul rest in peace," another person said.
