RIP: 'Great horseman'- Tributes paid to Carlow man who died unexpectedly at home

RIP Elton Stronge

Tributes have poured from across Carlow after a local man sadly died at home recently.

Elton Stronge was from Carlow Town of 36 Mt Leinster Park, Tullow Road and passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 19th, 2025.

He was the beloved son of Andrew and Anne-Marie, much loved brother of Shane and Michelle and adored partner of Maddie.

He will be sadly missed by his loving parents, sister, brother, partner, grandmother Betty Stronge, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunts, uncles, nephews Ailbe and Lorcán, cousins, relatives and friends.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Elton, with one mourner writing,

"Our deepest sympathies to Maddie, Andrew, Anne-Marie, Shane, Michelle and all the Stronge family on the sad passing of Elton. Absolutely heartbreaking. Elton was such a kind person, great horseman and a gentleman. May Elton rest in peace".

Another message said, "Heartfelt condolences to Maddie, and Elton's family. We will always remember Elton as a lovely person, a great horseman and above all a complete gentleman. RIP".

"Sincere condolences to the Stronge and O'Neill families on the passing of Elton- a lifelong friend and always up for a laugh. Great memories playing soccer together. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him," another person wrote.
